Adidas and DueSouth #MyPartner Winners Make Waves at Wines2Whales

636

The 2016 FNB Wines2Whales MTB event proved to be more fun, exciting and scenic than ever before. The three Adidas and Duesouth #MyPartner winning teams most certainly enjoyed the highly anticipated mountain biking event, most notably with the female team Jana Kruger and Ilse Viljoen winning the Wines2Whales Ride in their category.

Adidas and DueSouth recently partnered for the #MyPartner campaign, whereby they chose 3 teams to sponsor entries into the 2016 Wines2Whales MTB event – one team per race based on the best stories regarding their riding partners. The three teams selected have fantastic stories to share!

One of the riders from the first team has been battling cancer for the last few months and has lost a significant amount of weight but continues to cycle and will be participating in Wines2Whales. The second team of two contains a rider who suffered a serious, near fatal riding accident but has made a full recovery and will participating in the race and the third team is made up of two riders who have been friends for over a decade and have a love for the outdoors and cycling but were not able to ride together for the past few years due to having kids and hip surgeries. Now, they will finally be riding together in the 2016 Wines2Whales MTB Challenge.

Adidas Outdoors, in partnership with DueSouth ran a competition offering three lucky teams (six riders), an opportunity to win an entry to one of the three events as well as some adidas outdoor and support for the teams as they train for the race.

To enter, participants were required to share how they selected their FNB Wines2Whales MTB Race partner by using the official hashtag #MyPartner. Now, as the competition has drawn to a close, we get to meet the teams!

Team #1:

The first Adidas and DueSouth #MyPartner winning team is made up of Jana Kruger and Ilse Viljoen. These two ladies have been friends for over a decade and have a keen passion for the outdoors and specifically mountain biking. Between having kids and hip surgeries, they have not been able to ride together for quite a while but with the #MyPartner competition, Adidas and DueSouth gave these avid mountain bikers the opportunity to participate in the 2016 FNB Wines2Whales Event as a team. Team #2:

Meet the second Adidas and DueSouth #MyPartner winning team: Malcolm Estment and William Ferris. Malcolm and William have been friends for almost a decade with countless cycling stories and adventures experienced together. Three years ago, Malcolm broke his neck in a serious cycling accident and he was left paralysed, but through perseverance, he went from learning to walk to finishing a stage race. Through the #MyPartner competition, Adidas and DueSouth gave these avid cyclists the opportunity ride together again by participating in the 2016 FNB Wines2Whales Event as a team. Team #3:

The third and final Adidas and DueSouth #MyPartner winning team is made up of Lyle Wilkens and Gerald Steenkamp. Perfectly suited for the Wines2Whales race, these friends are both calm in nature, staying quite relaxed in tough conditions. Through the #MyPartner competition, Adidas and DueSouth gave Gerald, who was diagnosed with Renal Cancer in February this year a physical goal to train towards and Lyle an opportunity to positively support his friend through their partnership in the race.
