CSA members can now take part in PPA events

From now on, Cycling South Africa (CSA) members can take part in all Pedal Power Association (PPA) events.

This is thanks to an agreement between the PPA, the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust (CTCTT) and the sport’s national governing body which now sees all PPA events “with a racing element” sanctioned by CSA.

The agreement, valid for an initial period of five years and then renewable annually thereafter, allows cyclists who are CSA members to participate in events like the Cape Town Cycle Tour, Coronation Double Century, various ‘league’ races as well as other events with a racing component which form part of the PPA annual events calendar.

It was further agreed that funrides on the PPA calendar do not need to apply for sanctioning.

“This agreement further cements our good relationship and provides certainty amongst our members regarding participation in PPA events,” said CSA President William Newman.

“We are delighted with the outcome of the negotiations,” said PPA Chairman Steve Hayward. “Cyclists can now get on with enjoying their sport at all levels and we look forward to growing the sport together with CSA.”
