Welcome to Reitz!
The second day of the Old Mutual joberg2c another flat day saw riders making their way out of Frankfort riding 93km to Reitz, a town in the Eastern Free State. It should have been a relatively easy day, but for our riders and some others pesky mechanicals made it a rather difficult day.

Well, there was a plan for this stage, what was meant to be a 'recovery' day for us turned into a not so recovery day, very quickly! The idea was to ease into the day, take great pics, interview some people and amble along merrily. That plan was going brilliantly up until we had about 25km to go and it all got turned upside down.

Mechanical gremlins strike whenever they feel like it and almost an hour was spent fixing and nursing a bike home. The finish line might as well have been the gates of heaven it looked so welcoming! Great highlight of the day was climbing over a desolate climb and being greeted with a braai and red wine! Long day tomorrow, let's hope it goes better tomorrow.

Riders will make their way to Sterkfontein Dam, a 122km journey that will be challenging but will also see riders start to ride some of the glorious trails joberg2c is known for.
