The seventh day of the Old Mutual joberg2c saw riders take on a short and punchy 82km ride from Glencairn Farm in Himeville to Mackenzie Club near Ixopo, The race snakes could race but for the majority of the day it was a chance to take a chilled day.

The day the music, I mean the legs died!

The day started clear and beautiful, with a 6km neutral zone behind the neutral car making our way into the nice gentle rolling hills of Himeville, it had lots of fun little bits of single track, so a good start

I followed the Surgeons for Little Lives again. The first Water point was brilliant as per usua, it also brought the welcome sight of Jason from Trailhead who worked his magic on my drivetrain again.

On my way again saw me experiencing lots of new single track, which made the way to the famous floating bridge simply awesome! But after that it was a horrible slog to the second water point, my legs where dead. Both Achilles' tendons are now held together with tape.

Being the good guy I am, I helped fix a few tyres and chains during the day. The new single tracks with berms have made this day a forest shredding dream. Until I got to the last 10km, which ended up feeling like a 100km. It was a 5h07min 90km slog to get to the Mckensi club. Woza day eight!

With Saturday’s day nine, being a neutral cruise to the coast, day eight is the last day to jockey for position at the joBerg2c. Riders will tackle a 98km route that includes a joy-riding descent into the Umkomaas Valley - but then they’ll also have to climb out of it before reaching the penultimate race village at Jolivet in Highflats. A long, tough day awaits.
